Work & Learn Teams

Work and Learn Team photo The Work & Learn (WAL) service opportunity is a program of Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) that offers North Americans a short term service and learning program in locations around the globe. We invite anyone who is interested in learning more about Bezaleel or desiring the opportunity to visit and work at Bezaleel, to either organize their own WAL team or become part of another WAL team. Teams work beside the K'ekchi' people in new construction or campus maintenance projects (such as painting). Volunteers come from all walks of life and have a wide variety of vocation skills.

Work&Learn2.jpgWhile there is physical labor on a WAL team, learning is an important component to the visit. Teams visit places of cultural and historical interest throughout the region, listen to K'ekchi' people and learn first hand about K'ekchi' life. WAL teams can vary in size from a few people to over a dozen. Most WAL teams choose to come for a two week period, working during the week and engaging in learning experiences on the weekends. However, some groups (such as youth groups) have chosen to come for just one week.
